As the countdown to the 2025 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) intensifies, Nigeria’s Super Falcons have confirmed two high-profile friendly matches against Portugal and Ghana as part of their final preparations.
Head coach Justine Madugu revealed that the nine-time African champions will face Portugal on June 23, followed by a clash against archrivals Ghana’s Black Queens in Morocco, the host nation of this year’s tournament.
The tune-up games are part of Nigeria’s strategic build-up after a confidence-boosting 2-0 win over Cameroon in an earlier friendly held in Ogun State earlier this month.
The Falcons will base their pre-tournament training camp in Portugal before moving to Morocco for the main competition.
Nigeria, drawn in Group B, will battle Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana. Their campaign kicks off on July 6 against Tunisia at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
With a blend of experienced players and rising stars, the Super Falcons are aiming to reclaim the continental crown they last won in 2018.
