The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Bissau and are set to hold their final training session ahead of Tuesday’s crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Guinea-Bissau.
Sports247 reports that the Nigerian delegation travelled to Guinea-Bissau on Sunday following a 2–1 comeback victory over Madagascar in their opening Group L fixture at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
The team departed the Victor Attah International Airport aboard a chartered ValueJet flight at about 5:00 p.m. and arrived in Bissau later that evening.
Head coach Éric Chelle and his players are expected to complete their final preparations at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro, the venue for Tuesday’s encounter.
The session will provide the coaching crew with an opportunity to make final tactical adjustments and assess the players ahead of the Group L showdown.
Nigeria enter the fixture with three points after overturning an early deficit against Madagascar. Debutant George Ilenikhena restored parity in first-half stoppage time before Moses Usor completed the comeback in the second half to give the Super Eagles a winning start to their qualifying campaign.
Guinea-Bissau also opened their campaign with a victory, defeating Tanzania 2–0 to move above Nigeria on goal difference. That result has added significance to Tuesday’s meeting, with both teams looking to strengthen their position in the group.
The Super Eagles will be seeking another positive result on the road, particularly after Guinea-Bissau recorded a historic 1–0 victory over Nigeria during the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in Abuja. Nigeria subsequently responded with a 1–0 win in Bissau in the return fixture.
Tuesday’s encounter is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Nigerian time at the Estádio 24 de Setembro.
With preparations now entering their final stage, all eyes are on Bissau as Chelle’s side looks to maintain its winning start and take another important step towards the 2027 AFCON.
