Speaking about the team’s composition, Gusau acknowledges the presence of emerging talents who have been delivering stellar performances in their European clubs.

He sees these players as integral to Nigeria’s prospects in the tournament, highlighting their readiness to make a significant impact on the continental stage.

While recognizing Osimhen as the best player in Africa, Gusau notes that the striker is yet to secure an AFCON title.

However, the NFF President remains optimistic about the team’s overall potential, emphasizing their collective talent and determination.

“I have confidence in the team. We have upcoming and talented players, who are doing wonderfully well in their European clubs and ready to make a name for themselves. We have the best player in Africa in Osimhen, but he has yet to win the AFCON.”

Under the guidance of Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles will kick off their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea at the Alssanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday, January 14.

This opening match marks the beginning of Nigeria’s quest for AFCON glory, with the team eager to showcase their prowess and leave an indelible mark on the continental football scene.
