Nigeria’s Sunday Isreal sent shockwaves through the track world with a blazing 9.91s (+2.9m/s wind) to win Heat 1 of the men’s 100m at the LSU Invitational, signaling the promise of a legal sub-10 performance on the horizon.

Competing in a highly competitive field, Isreal exploded out of the blocks and maintained his form through the finish, clocking the fastest time of the meet under wind-assisted conditions.

Though not eligible for record purposes due to the +2.9 m/s tailwind, the time is a major confidence booster and positions him as one to watch in the sprinting circuit this season.

Also in action was multiple-time Nigerian national champion Seye Ogunlewe, who finished 6th in the same heat with a Season’s Best of 10.19s, showing signs of building form as the championship season approaches.

Isreal’s standout performance adds to a growing list of impressive Nigerian sprint outings this year, with anticipation building toward national trials and global competitions. The LSU Invitational once again proved to be fertile ground for fast times and breakout performances.
