Sporting Lagos FC’s coach, Jeffrey Buter has served a strong hint that the club will give everything to excel during their first season back in the Nigerian Preofessional Football Leafue (NPFL), and urged their fans to start dreaming of big things to come.
Sports 247 reports that Buter’s declaration comes hot on the heels of his side’s stunning performance en route to retaining their trophy in the ValueJet Pre-Season Championship, following a 2-1 victory over competition hosts, Remo Stars of Ikenne on Sunday.

Second-half goals by Aliyu Baba and Sodiq Ayoade gave the Lagos-based side victory, despite a consolation goal from Taiwo Oyetunde for the hosts, thereby giving ‘The Tech Boys’ another title at the same ground where they won the Nigerian National League (NNL) Super-4 in May.
After spending two years in the second-tier NNL, Sporting Lagos are back in the top-flight, where Buter believes they have everything needed to excel and even contest for thte title alongside other teams in the elite league, especiually after their recent victories over Abia Warriors and Shooting Stars.
Buter’s lads also eked out a goalless draw with Rivers United to book their ticket in the final versus Remo Stars, who gave the Lagos boys a huge scare, but their coach’s tactical adjustments in the second half turned the tide and scattered the host team’s strategy in favour of the champs.
Buter, who now has former England-based youngster, Jamiu Isa among his assistants, charged his players to ensure they carry their current winning aura into the NPFL terrain and declared: “It is a 38-game league, we are going to compete, and I think the fans can dream this season.”
