The EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 7 produced another round of intriguing results across various centres, with defending champions Rangers International, Enyimba and Rivers United among the teams securing important victories.
Sports247 reports that Kano Pillars were held to another 1–1 draw, this time against Sporting Lagos in Lagos on Saturday, October 3, extending their run of consecutive draws. The Mai Su Gida had previously played out a goalless draw against Enyimba, while Sporting Lagos also entered the fixture after a barren draw against Ikorodu City in the Lagos Derby.
Sporting Lagos took the lead through Valentine Ugwu in first-half stoppage time, but Kano Pillars responded shortly after the restart when Abdullahi Musa levelled in the 48th minute following an assist from veteran Rabiu Ali.
In another encounter on Sunday, Doma United secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Warri Wolves, with Joshua Abah scoring the decisive goal in the 81st minute.
Bendel Insurance produced one of the biggest results of the weekend, defeating in-form Barau FC 4–1. Kayode Oke scored twice in the 33rd and 78th minutes, while Suraju Lawal added a third in the 86th minute before Jonathan James completed the scoring in the 90+4th minute. Aliyu Sugau scored Barau FC’s consolation from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.
At the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Rangers International continued their positive run with a 3–1 victory over Abia Warriors. Godwin Obaje opened the scoring in the 37th minute, while Chidiebere Nwobodo doubled the advantage four minutes after the restart. Abia Warriors pulled one back through Emeka Obioma from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute, but Akorode Daniel sealed the victory with a late goal.
Rivers United also claimed maximum points, defeating Ikorodu City 2–0. Samson Olasupo gave the home side the lead in the 19th minute before Chinemerem Ugwueze doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time.
Kwara United came from behind to beat Ranchers Bees 2–1. Jamilu Yusuf put Ranchers Bees ahead in the seventh minute, but Toheeb Gidado levelled in the 50th minute before Stephen Gideon completed the comeback in the 77th minute.
Niger Tornadoes edged Kun Khalifat 1–0, with Ismaila Sarki scoring the decisive goal to secure all three points for the Minna-based side.
There was nothing to separate Shooting Stars and Nasarawa United, with both teams playing out a goalless draw.
In Lagos, Inter Lagos and Katsina United shared the points in a 1–1 draw. Nura Abdulbari gave Katsina United the lead in the 34th minute before Kevwe Iyede restored parity for Inter Lagos in the 42nd minute.
Meanwhile, Enyimba secured a 2–0 victory over Plateau United, with Ifeanyi Ihemekwele scoring in the 29th minute before Richard Ezinna added the second in the 68th minute.
Matchday 7 once again highlighted the competitive nature of the EuroMatch NPFL, with several teams strengthening their positions while others will be looking to respond in the next round of fixtures.
