South Africa vs Nigeria match will be won tactically – Thabo Senong

Head coach of South Africa’s U-20 national team Thabo Senong has stated that the match between the Amajita’s and the Flying Eagles slated for today at the Seyni Kouche Stadium in the Niger Republic by 4:30 pm will be won by the more technically disciplined side.

Nigeria currently tops group A after defeating Burundi 2 – 0 in the first group outing while South Africa’s Amajita played out a 1 – 1 draw against hosts Niger in their first match. The first two teams in the group qualify for the semifinal stage of the competition and also automatically books a spot in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.

Senong who watched Nigeria’s opening match against Burundi has admitted that they are in a tough group but the game plan going into the match against the solid Flying Eagles side will be to be careful with the entire duration of the game. Speaking with safa.net Senong said; “Sides like Nigeria had a really strong start, they beat Burundi convincingly without conceding a single goal. When we play them, I believe that we need to be switched on mentally if we are to come out with a positive result at the end of fulltime.”

Senong says he is expecting more of a tactical game from Nigeria instead of a physical based game; “It is going to be a tactical match because both sides have got a good technical staff with players who are also good on the ball,”

The South African coach insists that his team will ensure they minimize their mistakes as the team that fails to tactically discipline themselves will pay heavily for it. “A team that makes more mistakes is this encounter is the one that is going to lose in this upcoming matchup. We just need to make sure we minimize the possibility of such occurring on our side, and we will be just fine.”
