CAF CL: Lobi Stars quarter-final chances, very bright –Solomon Ogbeide

Lobi Stars of Makurdi head coach Solomon Ogbeide has described the chances of his team of making the quarter-final of the CAF Champions’ league as very bright as they prepare for their return leg fixture against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco on Tuesday, February 12.

Lobi Stars have lost back to back matches in all competitions losing to Bendel Insurance of Benin by a lone goal in an NPFL fixture just three days after losing at home in the CAF Champions League to Wydad Casablanca also by a goal to nil at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium on Saturday.

Despite the loss, veteran coach Ogbeide is confident of progressing out of the group stage; “We lost a game at home I know it wasn’t the best result and I know a lot of people have written us off already. Most people didn’t even know we could get to this stage but here we are and we are still thriving.

If you ask me about our chances of making it to the quarterfinals I will say it is very bright. We have not given up hope yet. We have three more matches to fight for and those are nine points so it will be foolish of us to throw in the towel and give up when there’s a lot to fight for.”

Lobi Stars will play in form CAF Confederations Cup campaigners Enugu Rangers in an NPFL fixture before traveling to face Wydad Casablanca of Morocco at the Stade Mohammed V on February 12.
