Skambo Morrison Urges Reconciliation After NBBF Elections: “Let’s Bring Everybody Together”

Former D’Tigers player Rev. Skambo Morrison has called for unity and reconciliation among stakeholders following the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) elections, urging winners and aggrieved parties to put their differences aside and work towards the development of the sport.

Morrison stressed that Nigerian basketball could not afford further division after years of disputes and setbacks, insisting that the interests of the game must take priority over individual loyalties and disagreements.

Reflecting on the situation, he expressed concern that the sport risked losing valuable ground if stakeholders failed to work together.

“Yes, we went back another 20 years, 20 years back,” Morrison said, highlighting his concerns about the impact of persistent disagreements on the progress of Nigerian basketball.

He also emphasised the importance of bringing people together rather than encouraging sides to remain entrenched in their positions.

“The guy says being able together. Are you bringing everybody in honestly? Yes, let’s hold,” he said in remarks calling for greater inclusion and cooperation.

Morrison’s central message was that the post-election period should be an opportunity to unite the basketball community, rather than extend the divisions associated with the contest.

He urged those involved to look beyond their preferred candidates and personal interests, arguing that the federation needs the collective support of stakeholders to move forward.

Nigerian basketball has faced recurring administrative disagreements over the years, making stability and cooperation important issues for the federation’s future. A united approach, Morrison believes, would help create a more productive environment for players, coaches, administrators and other stakeholders.

With the elections concluded, the challenge now is to channel competing views into constructive engagement and focus on strengthening the game.

For Morrison, reconciliation must go beyond words. Bringing all sides together and establishing a shared direction are essential steps towards restoring confidence and strengthening Nigerian basketball’s foundation for future development.
