Good communication and discipline were the driving forces behind Lagos Green Backs’ emphatic 53-0 victory over Rivers Alphas, according to Arigbabuwo Anuoluwapo Basirat, who believes those qualities helped the team deliver its first win of the Showtime Bowl Series XV season.
Sports247 reports that the Green Backs produced a dominant display in Game Week 3, combining a powerful attack with a disciplined defence that kept Rivers Alphas scoreless throughout the encounter.
While the 53-point margin underlined the Green Backs’ dominance, Anuoluwapo believes the result was built on how well the players communicated and stayed disciplined on the field.
“The key performance in today’s game is actually good communication skills and discipline,” she said.
Those qualities helped the Green Backs remain organised and focused as they controlled the contest and denied the Alphas any opportunity to get on the scoreboard.
The victory also carried added significance for the team as it ended their wait for a first win this season. Rivers Alphas had entered the game on the back of a Week 2 victory, but the Green Backs quickly turned the contest in their favour.
For Anuoluwapo, beating the Alphas was not a new experience, but getting the better of them in the current season made the result particularly important.
“Actually, this is not our first time winning against Alphas, but at least this is our first win in this season. And it means a lot to us.”
With the confidence from their first victory now growing, Anuoluwapo believes the Green Backs have more to offer.
She promised supporters that the big win should not be seen as a one-off performance, insisting that they can produce even more in their next outing.
For Anuoluwapo and her teammates, the celebrations may have started with a 53-0 win, but they clearly want this to be the start of something bigger.
The Green Backs will now hope to carry the confidence from their big Week 3 victory into their next game, with communication, discipline and teamwork expected to remain key to their progress.
