Shofoluwe Challenges Eaglets to win Bronze

Former Super Eagles defender, Yisa Shofoluwe has advised the Nigeria U17 side not to lose concentration in their African Cup of Nations third place play-off match against Angola on Saturday.

The Golden Eaglets will be aiming for consolation after their loss to Guinea truncated their chance of appearing in the final of the tournament.

Manu Garba’s boys will be meeting the young Palancas Negras again in the tournament after stealing a 1-0 victory at the group stage.

Shofoluwe urged the Nigerian youngsters to put in their best effort in the encounter scheduled to hold at Dar es Salaam.

“The match against Angola won’t be a walk in the park but they should do all it takes to win the game,” he said.

“Securing a second win against Angola wouldn’t be easy, it is going to be tough, that is why they have to concentrate during the match,” he added.

Commenting on the Eaglets preparation for the World Cup, he stated that more players are needed in the team and more friendly matches should be played to keep the players in shape.

“The boys should make adequate preparation because world cup is not a joke, everything must be in place before the tournament,” he concluded.

Nigeria have won the Africa U-17 Nations cup twice – 2001 (Seychelles) and 2007 (Togo), and were world champions in 1985 (China), 1993 (Japan), 2007 (Korea Republic), 2013 (UAE) and 2015 (Chile).
