Nigeria’s rising tennis star Seun Ogunsakin has achieved another major milestone after defeating top seed Felix Roussel in the final round of qualifying at the 2026 US Open Junior Tennis Championships.
Sports247 reports that the Nigerian produced an impressive performance to overcome the Canadian 6-3, 6-4, securing his place in the boys’ singles main draw at Flushing Meadows.

Ogunsakin’s victory comes just one day after he opened his qualifying campaign with a commanding 6-3, 6-0 win over Poland’s Tymon Litwic.
The achievement marks another significant step in the youngster’s rapidly developing Grand Slam journey. Ogunsakin is competing in his third consecutive junior Grand Slam, having previously featured at the French Open Junior Championships and Wimbledon Juniors.
His Wimbledon campaign earlier this year was particularly memorable, as he reached the boys’ singles main draw and advanced to the semi-finals of the doubles competition.

The US Open Junior Championships feature 64-player singles draws, while the qualifying competition provides six places in each singles main draw. The 2026 boys’ singles main draw is scheduled to begin on September 6.
