The name Ujah Uloko may not sound unfamiliar to league football followers in Nigeria as the player has had a stint in the elite Nigeria Professional Football League, especially during 2018/19, 2019/20 league seasons, adorning the colors of Nasarawa United FC and Katsina United FC respectively.

Weighing 81kg(178lbs), the 6’2 foot tall central defender has been making waves since moving to the Middle-East country of Iraq where he now plays for Al-Nasiryah FC, a division one club.

Not only does Ujah play for the club, but he also wears the captain’s armband and has made his presence known with three-goal assists.

The rock-solid 22-year-old defensive ace joined the Middle-East club for the 2020/21 league season in a six-month deal and has helped them tremendously, as the club currently sits on the 3rd position on the league table, with a few games to end the league season.

Ujah who hails from Otukpo, Benue State, North-Central Nigeria, has become the 4th Nigerian playing for Al-Nasiryah FC, and he strongly believes he will lead the team to the elite Iraqi Football League, saying, “I am looking forward to helping my club gain promotion to the Iraqi Premier League.

“It’s a tough league but the spirit in the team is top-notch and we always give our all in any game that comes our way.

“One of our toughest games this season was last week away to Al-Salikh FC of Baghdad in the country’s capital city, and thankfully, we shared the points with them. Thanks to a fellow countryman of mine, Donatus Edafe, who scored for our team.”

Other Nigerians in Ujah’s team are Thompson Ekpe and Ede Ifeanyi Benjamin.
