The highly anticipated burial rites for late ex-international midfielder, Henry Nwosu will be set in motion on May 23rd with a novelty match at Saint Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos.
Sports247 gathered that, with Nwosu’s burial now confirmed to hold in Naze-Owerri, Imo State on June 6th, a committee of friends is taking the bull by the horn in adding football to the activities.
A member of the committee and former youth international, Monday Kanu said burial activities for Nwosu will commence on May 23rd with what he tagged ‘Final Whistle For A Legend,’ which will be a match between former students of the school he attended against some Lagos-based ex-players.
The two squads, tagged Saint Finbarr’s Old Boys and Lagos Legends, will take to the pitch at 10am on the said day, in what Kanu also tagged ‘Boots Out For Henry Nwosu (MON).’
Kanu added in a media release, “We hereby confirm a novelty match at the invitation of Saint Finbarr’s College Old Boys Association in Honour of Late Henry Nwosu (MON).
“Date: Saturday, May 23rd, 2026; Venue: Saint Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos. Time: 10:00am prompt.”
