Some students of Antioch Royal College, Ikotun have revealed their passion for football and expressed their strong desire to achieve excellence in the round leather game.
Sports247 reports that, although they have very limited space within the school’s premises, the students make do with what they have to show their football talent with 3-a-side games during break time.
Incidentally, a large number of the school’s students who openly expressed their love for football are in the junior classes, but some of their seniors said they prefer playing for clubs and football academies in the area, rather than join the break-time spree.
Nonetheless, the roll call of youngsters with huge aspirations to pursue future roles in football is loaded with five boys in the junior classes as well as a girl.
Incidentally, the only girl with a strong passion for football in the school located on a street that stands opposite Ikotun Technical College is named Favour Nsikwe and she hails from Ogwashi Ukwu in Delta State, which produced former Super Eagles’ captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.
One of the male students in JS2 is Lekan Yekini, who hails from Oyo State, but his name would remind football lovers about Rashidi Yekini, who is Nigeria’s top scorer ever in the national team’s history.
Other students of Antioch Royal College who expressed interest in playing football as a profession later in life are Miracle Ezekiel and Ayomide Olokodana (who are both in JS3) as well as Ramon Oke and Shalom Richard (both in JS2).
Oke told Sports247 after the day’s knock-around, “I want to play football at the highest level, and I am happy that one of our teachers, Mr Victor Mojereola is encouraging me.
“Mr Victor can also play football, and he’s like a mentor to all of us in the school. Although I don’t have a club yet, I will soon join a football academy where I will be able to develop myself better.”
Sports247 gathered that Mr Victor, who is young and agile, serves the role of sports master and team coordinator at the school owned by Mrs Osho, who is well-known for her motivational speeches that inspire her students to live righteous lives.
