Lagos-based CATS Boys FC are one of eight clubs currently engaged in the thick of action at Hedra Super League (HSL) in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Sports247 reports.
The competition, which began on May 17th at Otumba Dipo Dina International Stadium in the ancient town of Awujale, enters week five this week, with four key matches on the cards at same venue.
MKA FC will open the gates versus Akoment FC, after which FIMA FC settle scores with Oligarch, Kedopeach face Tete Academy and CATS Boys tango OOA Football Academy in the day’s last fixture.
A member of the competition’s organising committee, Mark Orduen took time out to write a long line of technical and tactical tips that would guide the participating clubs to be at their very best during all their matches.
Orduen stated in part, “Teams should avoid long balls as much as possible! Long balls don’t add any value but decrease the chances for players to showcase their potential. Everybody can shoot long balls. My father, who is aged, can still shoot long balls without a problem.
“Teams need to play football, need to break through 1v1 and through passing to create chances and to score. With long balls, nothing is shown and only mistakes can happen which doesn’t add any value in showcasing talent.
“In the end, the most important thing is to find talent and to try to transfer players to Europe. Every academy wants to win the league, obvious, but our main goal is to spot talent and to be able to present.”
