The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has named a formidable squad for the 2025 edition of the Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Rwanda, the much-anticipated return of Rukayat Abdulrasaq and the inclusion of two exciting debutants—Amusa Kehinde and Omosigho Eguakun.
Announced through the federation’s official social media platforms on Saturday morning, the squad reflects a strategic blend of seasoned experience and fresh talent as the Yellow Greens aim to make a strong impact in Kigali.
“From seasoned warriors to rising stars, our Senior Women’s National Team is locked, loaded, and ready to fly the green and white high,” the NCF proudly declared in its unveiling statement.
Rukayat Abdulrasaq’s return marks a significant boost to the squad. A key figure in Nigeria’s past campaigns, her leadership and all-round abilities are expected to bring stability and confidence to the team, especially in high-pressure situations.
Equally headline-worthy is the international call-up for Amusa Kehinde and Omosigho Eguakun, both set to wear the national colors for the first time. Their selection underlines the NCF’s commitment to youth development and its belief in the next generation of cricketing talent.
“Rukayat’s comeback brings invaluable experience, while Kehinde and Eguakun represent the bright future of Nigerian women’s cricket,” said a senior NCF official. “It’s a balanced squad designed to compete, inspire, and grow.”
The Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament, held annually in Rwanda, not only serves as a competitive cricket event but also honors the memory of the victims of the 1994 genocide. Nigeria’s participation remains a show of sporting solidarity and pan-African unity.
With the Yellow Greens consistently among the top contenders in recent editions, expectations are high as the team prepares to build on its previous successes.
The team is expected to enter a pre-tournament camp in the coming days before heading to Kigali for the prestigious event.
