Coventry City midfielder Jack Rudoni has praised Nigerian international Frank Onyeka following his outstanding man-of-the-match performance in the Sky Bet Championship victory over West Bromwich Albion.
Onyeka, who joined Coventry City during the January transfer window, delivered an energetic all-action display in midfield, helping his side control the tempo of the game and secure a crucial result in their push for automatic promotion.

Speaking after the match, Rudoni highlighted the value Onyeka brings to the team, describing the Nigerian as a relentless presence who makes life easier for his teammates.
“Frank was immense,” Rudoni said. “He gets around the pitch so well, wins duels and covers so much ground. Having someone like that behind you gives you freedom to express yourself.”
Rudoni explained that Onyeka’s physicality, ball recovery and tactical discipline allow attacking midfielders to play with more confidence, knowing there is stability behind them.
“When he’s there, you know you can push forward because he’ll cover the space,” he added. “That balance is really important, especially in intense games like this.”
The Coventry midfielder also spoke about Onyeka’s personality away from the pitch, revealing that the former Brentford man has quickly settled into the dressing room.
“Off the pitch, he’s very calm and easy-going,” Rudoni said. “He’s fitted in straight away and you can see he’s a good character to have around the group.”
Onyeka’s performance against West Brom earned him widespread praise from supporters and coaching staff alike, reinforcing his growing influence since arriving at the club.
His display also underlined why Coventry pushed to secure his signature as they chase promotion from the Championship.
Rudoni believes Onyeka’s experience at Premier League level is already rubbing off on the squad, especially in high-pressure moments.
“He’s played at a high level and that shows,” Rudoni noted. “You can feel his confidence and intensity, and that lifts everyone around him.”
With Coventry continuing their strong run of form, Onyeka’s role in midfield appears set to be key as the season enters a decisive phase.
