Rohr Admits Worry Over Spate Of Injuries

Super Eagles’ technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has admitted he is getting worried over the recent spate of injuries hitting key players in his squad, and says the lads must be extra careful henceforth.

The Franco-German tactician stated as much during a cable television programme monitored by sports247.ng, in which he noted that such injuries are coming during winter periods of the year.

However, while acknowledging that injuries towards the end of the year are sometimes many, Rohr said the spate at which such are rising among players of the Eagles is a danger signal ahead of next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to South Africa.

Though Eddy Ogenyi Onazi, Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong are said to have recovered after recent knocks, Joel Chukwuma Obi and Shehu Abdullahi remain out, while the duo of Henry Onyekuru and Oghenekaro Etebo have joined the list.

In reaction, Rohr said all the lads need to be extra careful moving forward, and urged them to get adequate expert advice on techniques, diets and medications that would help them overcome the winter strain.

Rohr disclosed: “I have told the players that they have to be careful and focus on their fitness at this time of the year.

“All these little injuries can affect our plans for the game – especially when we have the team going strong and doing well.

“This is the time of the year that players get injured easily because with the winter season comes the injuries.”
