Rebuild Starts Now’: Amoo Urges Eagles Reset — Wants Fresh Talent Ahead Of 2030 World Cup Push

Former national team player Fatai Amoo has called for an immediate rebuild of the Super Eagles, urging the Nigeria Football Federation to begin laying the foundation for future success ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

In the wake of Nigeria’s recent disappointments, Amoo stressed that the focus must now shift from short-term fixes to long-term planning, starting with preparations for the next Africa Cup of Nations.

“We have to start now,” he insisted, emphasizing that rebuilding cannot be delayed.

According to Amoo, every match going forward — including friendlies and qualifiers — should be used as an opportunity to identify and integrate new players into the squad.

“These games must serve a purpose,” he noted, highlighting the importance of using them to test emerging talents.

The former international pointed out that some members of the current squad may not be active or at their peak by the time the next World Cup cycle arrives in 2030.

This, he argued, makes it essential to begin a gradual transition, ensuring that younger players are ready to step up when needed.

“We need to phase in new players,” he suggested, advocating for a balanced approach that combines experience with youth.

Amoo believes Nigeria still possesses the talent required to compete at the highest level, but insists that without proper planning and continuity, that potential will remain unfulfilled.

For him, the priority is clear, improve the team by learning from recent failures and building a stronger, more cohesive squad.

“Let’s correct our mistakes,” he implied, urging football authorities to act decisively.

His comments align with growing calls for reform within Nigerian football, as stakeholders push for a more structured and forward-thinking approach.

As the Super Eagles look to the future, the task ahead is significant.

But as Amoo emphasizes, rebuilding is not just an option.

It is a necessity.
