Rangers-Nasarawa Clash Moved to Owerri as Rivers United Resume NPFL Campaign Against Warri Wolves

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has confirmed a change of venue for the Matchday 3 encounter between Rangers International and Nasarawa United, with the fixture now set to take place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Sports247 reports that the switch was necessitated by the unavailability of the Awka Township Stadium, which was initially scheduled to host the encounter. However, the date remains unchanged, with the match scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026.

The venue change means Rangers will continue their early-season campaign away from their traditional home base as the defending NPFL champions look to build momentum in the new league season.

According to the official NPFL fixture list, Rangers and Nasarawa United are scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. kick-off, although other match listings have shown a 5:00 p.m. start time.

Meanwhile, Rivers United will return to NPFL action on Wednesday, September 16, when they host Warri Wolves in a rescheduled Matchday 3 fixture at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

The encounter was moved from its original date as Rivers United dealt with their CAF Champions League commitments. The fixture is now scheduled for Wednesday, with available listings placing kick-off at 4:00 p.m. Nigerian time.

For Rivers United, the match provides an opportunity to refocus on domestic football following their continental engagement against San Pédro, which ended in a 1-1 draw on September 5.

The Pride of Rivers will be looking to translate their continental experience into a positive domestic result against Warri Wolves, who will also be determined to make an impact after a challenging start to the campaign.

With both fixtures now confirmed, attention turns to another busy round of action in the EuroMatch NPFL as clubs continue their push for early-season points.
