The historic Rangers International Football Club of Enugu is taking a bold step towards gender inclusion and football development as the club prepares to launch a women’s football team under its iconic “Flying Antelopes” brand.
Leading this strategic vision is the club’s dynamic General Manager and CEO, Amobi Ezeaku, who is currently in Cairo, Egypt—not for leisure, but on a critical mission.

Ezeaku is engaging in high-level discussions with officials of FC Masar, one of the fastest-growing women’s football clubs in North Africa, to explore collaborative opportunities that could shape the foundation of Rangers Women.
Sources close to the development confirm that Ezeaku is studying FC Masar’s operational model, technical structure, and grassroots recruitment framework, with a view to replicating and localizing a similar success story in Enugu.
“This is not just about forming a team—it’s about laying a sustainable foundation for women’s football that reflects the excellence and legacy of Rangers International,” a club insider revealed.
The potential partnership could unlock cross-border exchanges in coaching, player development, and club management, positioning Rangers Women to hit the ground running once officially unveiled.
Ezeaku, known for his forward-thinking leadership, is believed to be keen on bridging the gender gap in football while aligning Rangers with the Nigeria Football Federation’s growing emphasis on the women’s game.
If successful, Rangers Women would join the elite circle of NPFL clubs with female counterparts, further boosting opportunities for young girls in the South-East to chase their football dreams.
From the ancient streets of Cairo to the coal city of Enugu, the journey to birth Rangers Women is clearly underway—and for Ezeaku, it’s serious business.
