The General Manager of Rangers International FC, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, has congratulated the Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Muhd Tukur Babangida, following his appointment by the Kano State Government.
Ezeaku paid a courtesy visit to Babangida on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, during which he praised the chairman’s experience in sports administration and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to the development of sports in Kano State.
The Rangers general manager described Babangida’s appointment as a round peg in a round hole, pointing to his experience and background in sports administration.
The visit comes as sports administrators across Nigeria continue to face the responsibility of strengthening sporting structures, supporting athletes and improving the administration of their respective organisations.
Sports247 reports that the meeting also provided an opportunity for Ezeaku to express solidarity with the Kano State Sports Commission following the death of its Secretary, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Maizare, last week.
On behalf of the Enugu State Government and the entire Rangers family, Ezeaku extended his condolences to the chairman and the commission over the loss.
He prayed for Allah to grant the late secretary eternal rest and make Aljannatul Firdaus his final abode.
The visit highlights the importance of relationships between football clubs and sports administrators beyond matchday activities. Professional clubs depend on effective administration and cooperation among stakeholders to support football development and create opportunities for athletes.
Rangers, one of Nigeria’s established football clubs, have continued to participate in the Nigeria Premier Football League, bringing them into contact with sporting institutions and stakeholders across the country.
The club recently visited Kano for its league meeting with Barau FC, a fixture that ended in a 2-2 draw after Rangers captain Chidiebere Nwobodo scored a late equalizer.
While the courtesy visit was an opportunity to congratulate Babangida on his appointment, it also demonstrated the value of maintaining professional relationships within Nigerian sports.
For the Kano State Sports Commission, the focus now remains on the responsibilities attached to its leadership and the continued development of sports across the state.
