Ranchers Bees Signal Ambition with Appointment of Patrick Bassey as Head Coach, Eye NPFL Return

Ranchers Bees FC have laid down a clear marker of intent ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season with the unveiling of Coach Patrick Bassey as the club’s new head coach — a bold move that signals a renewed push for top-flight football.

The unveiling ceremony, held on Monday in Kaduna, drew the presence of key football powerbrokers including Club President Nura Bulala and Kaduna State FA Chairman Faisal Abdullahi, both of whom endorsed Bassey as the right man to restore the club’s lost glory.

Bassey, appointed under the ownership of Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar, didn’t shy away from the mandate on his desk: secure promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

“The target is clear — promotion to the NPFL. We want to bring joy back to Kaduna and prove that Ranchers Bees are here to stay and win again,” Bassey affirmed.

Known for his tactical sharpness, discipline-driven coaching, and strong pedigree across Nigeria’s football pyramid, Bassey’s arrival is widely viewed as a strategic reboot for a club with legacy but overdue success. The move positions Ranchers Bees as one of the early title favourites in what is expected to be a fiercely competitive NNL campaign.

In a further show of ambition, the club also unveiled former national team goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, whose signing injects experience and leadership into the squad.

“With the experience I’ve gathered over the years, it’s a privilege to guide the young players and help drive the team toward promotion,” Daniel stated.

Ranchers Bees will compete in Conference D, a tough pool featuring the likes of Gombe United, Yobe Desert Stars, and Kebbi United. But with Bassey’s appointment, smart recruitment, and a clear vision set from the top, confidence is rising that the Kaduna giants are gearing up for a compelling resurgence.

For a club historically regarded as one of northern Nigeria’s influential football institutions, this new chapter feels less like a rebuild and more like a reawakening. The message from Kaduna is loud and clear: Ranchers Bees are coming for the NPFL spot — and they mean business.
