WHAT IS A HEALTHY CHILD? Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being- not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

All modern Western children are at increase risk of so-called activity -limiting conditions such as asthma, allergies, learning disabilities, ADHD, depression, being overweight, and recurrent bouts of upper respiratory infections.

There is a rise in low -birth-weight babies who are at increased risk of long-term illness, disability, and death.

Where once children were at risk from inadequate food, excessive exposure to disease-causing germs, and lack of medicines, many of today’s of children are born into an overfed, under-germ-exposed, overmedicated, underactive enviroment

Many are deprived of breast milk as infants and given commercial baby formula that undermines the natural development of the immune system (since approximately two-thirds of the immune system os located in the gastrointestinal tract GI)) – as does the artificially germfree enviroment in which many children grow up.

Children will naturally clamor for junk foods that are marketed and packaged specifically for them. Dont get in the habits of falling prey to those who profic from marketing directly to children- companies who, in marketing meetings, try to figure out how to optimize “the nag factor” in inproving their bottom line

Once your child recognizes that you wont be buying those foods, he’ll quit asking for them. Just before the evenin meal, when kods are likely to be most hungry, put out a plate of cut-up raw vegetables with healthy low-fat dips such as Galeos dressings or fruit dip.

Getting a child off to a good start in the dietary department will teach him or her good habits for the rest of his or her life. Parents, set the example yourself-you just might make up for your own formula-fed, junk-food, and TV-intensive childhood -to help your child get off on the right foot to a lifetime of good health.
