Nigeria’s top-ranked table tennis star and World No. 25, Quadri Aruna, has withdrawn from the forthcoming 2025 ITTF African Championships, scheduled to take place in Tunis, Tunisia, from October 12 to 19, 2025.
The African Championship serves as a major qualification route for the 2026 ITTF World Team Championships in London, making Aruna’s absence a significant blow to Team Nigeria’s campaign.

Although no official reason has been disclosed for Aruna’s withdrawal, the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) has confirmed that Adegoke Muiz will take his place on the national team roster.
Adegoke, one of Nigeria’s promising young talents, will now have the opportunity to prove himself on the continental stage, competing against Africa’s best players in Tunisia.
Aruna’s withdrawal means Nigeria will head into the tournament without its most experienced player and multiple-time African champion, but expectations remain high for the team to deliver a strong performance and secure qualification for the global event in London.
