Prosperity Cup: Crusaders Feeders Ease out Agbere FC To Set Up Tournament Showdown with De Grace FC

Crusaders Feeders FC of Peretorugbene on Sunday join De Grace FC to reach the final of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football tournament the Bayelsa State Governor’s Football Tournament christened the Prosperity Cup.

Crusaders Feeders FC beat Agbere FC 2-1 to qualify for the final of the tournament in a game decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

Isaiah Jacob gave the Peretorugbene side the lead three minutes into the game from Junior Christopher’s rebound having taken full advantage of the encounter in the first 15 minutes.

Crusaders Feeders FC continued to mount pressure on Agbere FC in their quest for the second goal but were wasteful in front of goal, however the Sagbama side on 35 minute responded through Mabinton Jonathan’s beautiful cross as Igbunu Ehwihoma header leveled the scoreline.

Two minutes later Crusaders Feeders FC talisman Junior Christopher raised the hopes of the Ekeremor side to make it 2-1 to increase his goal tally in the tournament to eleven goals same with De Grace FC forward Don Pedro Samuel.

Agbere FC on resumption from the break piled pressure on Crusaders Feeders but failed to convert chances with Crusaders Feeders FC goalkeeper Gbansele Gas making crucial saves to put his side through to the final of the showpiece.

Earlier on Saturday in the first semi final De Grace FC of Yenagoa humbled Dream Boys FC of Odi 2-0 to progress to the final of the nation’s biggest grassroots football spectacle.

Goals from Don Pedro Samuel on 7 minute and a well placed free kick from Preye Victor on 78 minute moved De Grace FC into the final.

De Grace FC will be seeking to follow the heroics of sister team Eternal Grace Ministry EGM FC who lifted the trophy last year having crashed out of the tournament in the preliminary rounds.

An elated coach of Crusaders Feeders FC Genesis Suomokumo,said he was happy to reach the final of the competition, stating that he had already envisaged reaching the final before the game.

Agbere FC coach Ebi Amula, asserted that they will now focus their attention on the third place game on Sunday against Dream Boys FC of Odi at Samson Siasia before the grand finale.
