“No Hope Lost, Nigeria Relay Team Will Qualify”- Tonobok Okowa

President, Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Tonobok Okowa has expressed confidence that Nigeria relay team will qualify for the World Championship in the Warri Raley trials that is billed to hold in Asaba this thursday 27th of July 2023.

Tonobok said that the fact that the athletes are yet to qualify after the Benin City and Togo trials, he is optimistic they will because they have all it takes to win a medal for Nigeria.

” our athletes have all it takes to run the required time to take Nigeria to Budapest in the relay categories.”

He said the coaches, athletes and all involved are working very hard to perfect Team Nigeria strategies to ensure Nigeria qualify for the Hungary event.

The Nigeria relay team stand a chance to book a place in the 4×100 and the 4×400 in Asaba when they compete against Cameroon Mali and Niger Republic this week In Asaba.

The Nigeria Relay team have failed to produce a 38.40secs race after two attempt at National Championship in Benin City and the CAA Region 2 meet in Togo recently.

The Warri Relay will also features local teams and schools relay competition in honor of Dr. Awoture Eleaye one of Nigeria Pioneering sports administrators.
