Plateau United FC have officially announced the appointment of Shola Adegun as their new head coach, marking a significant shift in the club’s technical direction ahead of the new season.
Adegun replaces Mbwas Mangut, who exits the role with immediate effect following a series of underwhelming performances that left the management seeking a fresh approach.

A UEFA C License holder, Adegun brings with him a strong youth-focused coaching pedigree. He formerly served with Sporting Lagos Academy, guiding them to a Gothia Cup victory, a prestigious global youth football tournament held in Sweden.
The 34-year-old tactician also boasts experience from elite developmental setups, having worked with the Barça Academy in Lagos and AS Roma Academy in Abuja, where he played a key role in nurturing emerging Nigerian talents.
His appointment is seen as a bold move by Plateau United to reinvigorate their tactical approach and prioritize player development, blending youth integration with competitive ambition.
Shola Adegun signed his contract earlier today and is expected to resume duties immediately, with preseason preparations already in focus.
Club sources describe his arrival as “a strategic investment in the future,” signaling Plateau United’s intent to return to the upper echelons of Nigerian football
