‘Pedal To End Polio’: Rotary Club Of Ikeja Alausa President Rtn Tonna Ofuasia Reels In Excitement Over Participants Turnouts…Lauds Sponsors, Club Members Immense Contribution

National Stadium Surulere Lagos was today, Saturday, December 3, 2022 full of activities as Rotary Club Of Ikeja Alausa hosts hundreds of cyclist in this year’s ‘pedal to end polio’ edition which is a form of raising fund for the Rotary foundation.

The program started at the early hours of today where cyclist gathered to participate in the initiative of fund raising for the foundation in an 10km race as they were led by the president of the club, Rtn. Tonna Ofuasia and other members of the club.

It was a program full of varieties of activities ranging from dancing, keeping fit through jogging, side attraction games all solely for the primary purpose of fund generation.

The aim of the club is to raise $5000 this year as its own contribution to the foundation which serves as a platform to transforms one’s gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.

Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

The Oresident expressed her excitement over participants turnout, “I am happy when we see people coming out to help others, that’s the purpose of rotary, people helping people.”

“This year, we all saw the large number of participants which was very encouraging, young and old coming out to show support. This really inspires me and makes me know that we need to do more for our community development.”

“Special thanks to every members and all our sponsors that has contributed immensely to this year activities. Next year will be greater, our club will continue to move forward.”

The Foundation coordinator in person of Sola Ayanwale spoke about how the event surprised his expectations, “people are always ready to help others, the participation is so encouraging.”

“We know that Rotary International will be happy with what we did here today, thanks to all sponsors and individual donors, everyone who played a part in this achievement.”
