Prince Chukwuemeka produced an outstanding performance to win the Man of the Match award following Wellborn Hotels Team A’s 1-0 victory over Daily Manna Bakeries Team C in the opening fixture of the PatrickLingo Super League Football Tournament.
The tournament, organised by Island AllStars Sports Club International, got underway at the Lagos Business School, with Wellborn Hotels securing maximum points from a tightly contested encounter.
Sports247 reports that while captain Ezenwaka provided the decisive moment by scoring the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute, it was Chukwuemeka’s influential display in midfield that helped Wellborn Hotels protect their slender advantage and see out the victory.
Operating from the defensive midfield position, Chukwuemeka combined composure, work rate and tactical discipline throughout the encounter.
His contribution became particularly important after the interval, as Daily Manna Bakeries increased their efforts to find an equaliser.
The midfielder repeatedly helped his team maintain its shape, break up opposition attacks and manage the pressure as Wellborn Hotels defended their 1-0 lead.
His performance earned recognition from the organisers, who named him the Man of the Match, rewarding a display that played a significant role in Wellborn Hotels’ successful start to the competition.
Speaking after receiving the award, Chukwuemeka dedicated the recognition to his teammates, coaching staff and the organisers of the tournament.
“I appreciate my entire team, the coaching crew, the SMC of Island AllStars Sports Club International for this award, I say thank you.”
The victory gives Wellborn Hotels a valuable three points at the start of their PatrickLingo Super League campaign and provides the team with an early confidence boost as the tournament progresses.
For Chukwuemeka, the individual award adds further significance to an impressive opening-day performance, while the team will now look ahead to the challenges that await in the coming matchweeks.
Wellborn Hotels will hope to build on their winning start, with Chukwuemeka’s midfield presence expected to remain an important part of their campaign as the competition continues.
