The event, attended by top football stakeholders, dignitaries, and media professionals, signaled more than just the launch of a football club — it showcased a strategic vision to elevate women’s football to national and international relevance.

Speaking at the unveiling, Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, credited the unwavering support of Governor Seyi Makinde for making the initiative a reality. “This club is a product of His Excellency’s deep commitment to gender equity and grassroots sports development,” Adegoke noted. She emphasized that Pacesetter Queens is more than a team — it is a platform for empowerment and representation.

The unveiling featured the presentation of the club’s modern and symbolic logo, which reflects strength, unity, and ambition — traits the club hopes to embody on and off the pitch.

The newly appointed technical and backroom staff are a blend of experience and professionalism, led by Head Coach Akinwunmi Obajimi, with Damilola Olaitan Badmus and Zaccheaus Aderoju serving as assistant coaches. The inclusion of FIFA-certified Goalkeeper Trainer Foluso Ajayi and UEFA/CAF licensed Welfare Officer Grace Towobola further underlines the club’s commitment to technical excellence.

As part of its strategic roadmap, Adegoke revealed a one-month trial period to scout talent, followed by the official allocation of a club bus and full access to Adamasingba and Olubadan stadium facilities. The club’s official flag-off will be conducted by Governor Makinde in the coming weeks.

Goodwill messages from ex-international Mutiu Adepoju and Oyo FA Chairman Oba James Odeniran reinforced optimism that Pacesetter Queens FC could become a model for how state-backed initiatives can foster professionalism, pride, and passion in women’s football.

In closing, Adegoke called on the people of Oyo State and Nigeria at large to rally behind Pacesetter Queens FC. “Let’s support this club not just as fans, but as believers in a future where women’s football takes center stage,” she urged.
