Oyibu Success Vows To Make Nigeria Proud At 2025 CAA U-18/U-20 Championships In Abeokuta

As the countdown to the 3rd edition of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) U-18/U-20 Championships intensifies, one name that stands out among Team Nigeria’s contingent is Oyibu Success — a rising star in the women’s 200m category, who has vowed to leave her mark on home soil.

In an exclusive interview the determined sprinter expressed strong confidence in Nigeria’s prospects at the continental meet, slated for July 16–20, 2025, in Abeokuta.

“I’m feeling confident and focused,” Success declared. “I’ve been working hard in training and I think mentally, I’m ready to compete at the big stage.”

Her confidence stems from rigorous preparation under the Athletics Federation of Nigeria’s (AFN) pre-championship camp, which she described as a major factor in fine-tuning her skills and building camaraderie among athletes.

“The camp has been incredibly helpful — we’re sharpening our starts, improving our finishes, and for the throwers, they’re perfecting their techniques,” she said.

A standout at the national trials, Oyibu blazed to victory in the U-20 women’s 200m event with an impressive 23.80s (-0.6), a personal triumph she attributed to years of discipline and consistent coaching.

“That moment was the result of years of hard work. My coach, Oseyi Adima Aaron, has been instrumental in keeping me focused, especially after the National Sports Festival. We’ve worked on my speed, endurance, and mental strength.”

With over 700 athletes expected at the continental showpiece, Oyibu sees the championship not just as a platform to compete, but also to inspire.

“Representing Nigeria is a huge honour. I give God the glory for this opportunity. I’m ready to give my all — for my country and my career,” she said with passion.

She also reserved special praise for the President of the AFN, Tonobok Okowa, noting that the team’s well-structured preparation under his leadership has been instrumental to her motivation.

“I want to thank him for his tireless efforts. The camp experience has been amazing, and the team has helped me stay focused on my goals.”

With the clock ticking down to the opening ceremony in Abeokuta, Success Oyibu is not just running for medals — she’s sprinting toward destiny, driven by faith, preparation, and a burning desire to do her country proud.
