Osun United Go On Break Over COVID 19

In accordance with the directive of the Football Governing Body in Nigeria, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to suspend football related activities for four weeks over the continuous spread of Coronavirus disease, the management of Osun United has asked the coaching and technical crew as well as players to proceed on break.

This is contained in a statement by the club’s President Chief Ademola Adesina through the Team Manager Mr. Kabiru Adekunle shortly after the team’s training today Thursday 19th March 2020 at the Oshogbo Township Stadium.

The management, who commended the NFF for the directive said it was important to join the global trend in preventing the spread of the deadly disease that has relegated the world of sports to the bottom.

“It is very important to hearken to the global warning as the pandemic continues to ravage the world. We as a football club support the decision of the football governing body to halt activities for four weeks as the world joins forces together to wipe it off,” said Mr. Adekunle

“We therefore want our players and technical crew to proceed on a two-week break immediately and report to camp on Sunday, 5th April, 2020 while training begins on Monday, 6th April, 2020 at the Oshogbo Township Stadium.”

“We also appeal to everyone to maintain personal hygiene and steer clear of all causes of the deadly disease because prevention is better than cure”, concluded the Team Manager.

The management further said any player who refuses to resume for training on Monday, 6th April, 2020 shall be dealt with accordingly.
