Oshodi charges Table Tennis coaches to up their game

Chairman of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) nomination committee Waheed Oshodi has stressed the need for improved coaching to better the quality of the game and players produced in the country.

Oshodi, who spoke about the country’s outing at the recently concluded International Table Tennis Federation re-affirmed that Nigerian players are talented, but there’s need for improvement.

“Of course there is room for improvement and we must commend Aruna Quadri for getting to the round of 32 considering he’s been injured for a while that is a great performance for him, Ajoke Ojomu the junior Nigerian player also did well for herself,” Oshodi said.

Quadri was the only player from Africa to reach the last 32 of the men’s singles at the 2019 ITTF World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Oshodi also inferred that there is hope for the country’s representatives in future if improvement is made in coaching.

“The hopes are there. I think there is room for improvement and we are on the right track if we can get the right coaching.”
