Orbih: China Will Pay Nigeria’s Badminton Coaches

Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) president, Francis Orbih has disclosed that the country will soon get technical assessors, coaches and advisers from China without any extra cost to the body.

While confirming to sports247.ng that the federation has secured the services of a Chinese technical adviser and assistant coach to improve Nigeria’s national teams, Orbih said their country is footing the bill.

Orbih disclosed that the Chinese experts are expected to start officially in December, but all salaries and allowances will be shouldered by the Chinese Badminton Federation.

Orbih said China is the number one badminton country in the world, which is why NBF decided to hire from there a coach for the nation.

Orbih also revealed that Nigeria will host an African championship at the beginning of the second quarter of next year.

He enthused that the African championship, which will be happening for the first time in 19 years, is one out of the series of events planned for the badminton federation in 2019.

Orbih said: “A Chinese technical adviser and his assistant will resume duty next month and will both witness the National Championship.

“My administration is determined to improve the quality of Nigeria national team.

“We all know that China is the best country in badminton, so if we aspire to be the best, we must go for the best.

“One good thing is that the federation will not be responsible for the payment of salaries and allowances of the coach as well as his assistant. It is sponsored by the Chinese Badminton Association.”
