Onyekuru feels ‘blessed’ after scoring title-winning goal for Galatasaray

Super Eagles striker Henry Chukwuemeka Onyekuru scored the winner as Galatasaray secured a 2-1 victory over title-chaser, Istanbul Basaksehir to seal their 22nd Turkish Super League title at the Turk Telekom Arena on Sunday.

 

The Yellow-Reds won the title with 69 points from 33 games, while Basaksehir claimed second with 66 points from the same number of matches.

Onyekuru who was included in Nigeria’s 25-man provisional squad for the Nations Cup in Egypt scored the winning goal few days after winning the Turkish Cup with a 3-1 victory over Akhisar.

“Champions. We fought back from 1-0 in a very tough game,” the 21-year-old posted on social media.

“I am so blessed to have a strong team of lions with me to battle back and God gracing me to score the winning goal in this amazing victory!.

“I am nothing without God and I am nothing without all your support. Thank You.”

Onyekuru has been superb for The Lions this season, scoring 13 goals and creating three in 29 league appearances.

Galatasaray will travel to face Sivasspor in their final game of the season.
