The Director of the Ondo State Student Athlete Development Office (OSSADO), Olabode James, said the initiative is strategically designed to identify, groom, and project young athletes capable of excelling at regional, national, and international levels.
He noted that the championship aligns with the vision of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu (KSO), who has consistently championed the fusion of sports and education as a catalyst for youth empowerment and academic excellence.
Appreciating Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for backing the programme, Hon. Olaolu described the event as a timely boost for students.
“Indeed, our ease has come both in the student community and in Ondo State as a whole,” he said.
Reaffirming readiness ahead of tip-off, Olabode James confirmed that logistics, accommodation, and all operational frameworks have been fully secured to deliver a seamless championship.
He added that a technical meeting for coaches and officials is scheduled for Thursday, while the competition officially jumps ball on Friday.
The festival is expected to set a new benchmark for student-focused sporting programmes in Ondo State, while reinforcing the government’s commitment to youth engagement, talent development, and sports-driven social impact.
