Oluwayemi Delivers Triple Jump Gold for Team Ogun at National Sports Festival

Team Ogun’s Blessing Oluwayemi electrified the crowd at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta on Wednesday, clinching the gold medal in the men’s triple jump with a stunning leap of 15.67 metres at the ongoing National Sports Festival.

Competing on home soil, Oluwayemi’s performance was not just a personal triumph but also a major boost for the host team, putting them firmly in the spotlight as medal contenders in the athletics category.

His leap was enough to see off a strong challenge from Team Edo’s Erhayanmen Ohimai, who claimed silver with 15.27m, and Team Oyo’s Tobechukwu Emmanuel, who secured bronze with a jump of 15.19m.

The triple jump final was fiercely contested, but Oluwayemi’s composure and technique made the difference, drawing loud cheers from the home crowd as he sealed the win in his final attempt.

“I’m proud to bring this gold home for Ogun State,” Oluwayemi said after his victory. “The support from the fans was incredible. Jumping here in Abeokuta, with everyone behind me, made this moment even more special.”

The victory marks a significant milestone in Oluwayemi’s career and adds momentum to Team Ogun’s medal chase in this edition of the Festival.
