The owner of FC Ebedei, Barrister Churchill Oliseh, has called on the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to prioritize the seamless transition of players from the country’s underage national teams to the senior national team, stressing that continuity is vital for sustained growth in Nigerian football.
Speaking with sports journalists in Abeokuta, the experienced football administrator underscored the need for Nigeria to harness and refine its football strengths rather than drift away from its natural identity.

“Every football nation identifies its strength and works at improving that strength,” Oliseh said. “We must understand what makes Nigerian football unique and keep building on it.”
Oliseh, who is known for his player-development philosophy, noted that while Nigerian football has made remarkable progress, there is still much work to be done to achieve lasting success at all levels.
He revealed that his motivation for founding FC Ebedei stemmed from his desire to bridge gaps in the country’s football structure and nurture raw talent into professional excellence.
“I was confronted with the realities and limitations of our football, and I realized that nobody seemed to be working towards getting it right. Since it’s something I’m equipped to do, I decided to take it upon myself to develop players,” he explained.
FC Ebedei, founded over two decades ago, has earned a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most successful talent-producing clubs, grooming stars such as Obafemi Martins, Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka, and Raphael Onyedika—all of whom have represented Nigeria at international level.
Oliseh reaffirmed his commitment to football development and urged the NFF and stakeholders to invest more in long-term planning, structured transitions, and player-growth systems that will guarantee Nigeria’s consistent presence among football’s elite nations.
