Olabanji Habeeb, who holds the position of Assistant PR of the Ram Lovers Association of Nigeria (RLAN) has talked up the growth of the animal sport in the country.
Habeeb described Ram Fighting as one of the best traditional sports worldwide and cited it’s popularity in Asian countries like Indonesia and China.
“This is a traditional sport which is led by Chief Bash Augusto, founder of Ram Lovers Association of Nigeria,” Habeeb told Sports247 at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos where the 2021 edition of the Lagos State RLAN Governor’s Cup competition is currently ongoing.
“Ram Fighting is a very interesting traditional sport. One of the best traditional sports worldwide. We can see other countries also like Indonesia, China and India where they practice this sport.
“In Nigeria, this sport gathers much crowd. We have chapters and editions across different states in the country and different zones.”
Habeeb adds that Ram Sports pulls as much crowd as football matches as it has the support of the locals.
“We are in the quarterfinals stage now. When there is ram sports competition in the national stadium here, we always gather crowd even more than football matches or any other event because most of the youths and some of the elders are in support it.
“And also because it is very entertaining so everyone gather here to entertain their selves. It is also a stress fee competition.” he concluded.
