Okobi: Election Day Is Better Than Valentine’s Craze

Super Falcons midfielder, Ngozi Okobi has hinted that she put aside thoughts about Valentine’ s Day in order stay focused on Nigeria’s presidential election this Saturday, sports247.ng reports.

Rather than follow the generality of Nigerians in donning red attire and going in frenzy to mark the lover’s spree on Thursday, Okobi took time out for sober reflection and prayers for the coming polls.

The former Washington Spirit of USA dazzler, who now plies he trade with for Eskilstuna United DFF of Sweden, also showed her pious side, as she called for prayers from all Nigerians to make the election peaceful.

She took to social media to hint that she was not aware of Valentine’s Day, as sh her mind had been fully set on February 16, which she noted is the biggest day to talk about in the country for now.

The Falcons’ squad member at last year’s Africa Women Cup of Nations also chipped in a word about religion and spiritual awareness, adding that the love of Jesus Christ should be paramount on the Nigerians.

Okobi stated: “Someone just told me it’s Valentine’s day, how can that possibly be true when the 16th is our biggest day in Nigeria, a day to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal saviour.”
