Lobi Stars Must Silence Sundowns – Olufemi

Lobi Stars of Makurdi’s in-form goalkeeper, Kayode Olufemi has raised the ante ahead of their next match in the CAF Champions League, as he says they will go all out to shock Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa at their back yard, sports247.ng reports.

Olufemi is still basking in the euphoria of the Middle Belt club’s goalless draw away to Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) of Morocco on Tuesday, which he admits was mostly unexpected, but admits the fight is not yet over.

The former Akwa United of Uyo goalkeeper, who clocked 30 a day after the historic draw in Casablanca, said it was a result to cherish, as it made up to a large extent for their 1-0 loss at home to same team in the first leg at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

With the Nigerian champions still last in Group A, Olufemi admitted that the draw in Casablanca was very crucial, but interjected that they must also not lose away to Sundowns, then wrap up qualification with victory at home against ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire.

It was a 1-0 loss away to ASEC in their second match that has condemned Lobi to last place on the log, as the Ivoeriens are behind them on goals difference but take the edge on head-to-head rule, and Olufemi says the remaining two matches are pivotal to his side’s survival hopes.

Olufemi stated: “For Sundowns, we will prepare very well for them and I know if we come all out on them, they can’t stand us.

“So, I urge myself and my teammates to put (Tuesday’s) game behind us and get ready to face Sundowns because we have to qualify and we will.”
