Organizers of the Ogun Women Run have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting female athletes and promoting wellness by announcing the successful disbursement of prize monies to the top finishers of the 2024 edition of the race.
Brussels Sports Management Limited, the firm behind the increasingly popular women-only fitness event, confirmed that the top three athletes have received their cash prizes, totaling one million naira—a move lauded as a step toward fostering transparency and accountability in grassroots sports development.
The winner of the 2024 race, Aderonke Alabi, claimed the top prize of ₦500,000, while Affigbo Esther secured second place with ₦300,000. Olude Kehinde came in third and earned ₦200,000.
Speaking on the development, Yetunde Johnson, CEO of Brussels Sports Management, expressed satisfaction over the smooth conclusion of the 2024 edition and emphasized the organization’s forward-looking approach to the next installment of the race.
“We are excited about the progress Ogun Women Run has made so far. Making the prize announcement is part of our commitment to transparency and support for female athletes.
Plans are already in top gear for the 2025 edition, which promises to be bigger and better,” she stated.
Now regarded as one of Nigeria’s flagship all-female sporting events, the Ogun Women Run has grown beyond a race to become a movement—fostering fitness, unity, and empowerment among women across Ogun State.
The 2025 edition is expected to attract even greater participation, as organizers gear up to expand partnerships and community engagement in a bid to solidify the race’s place on the national sporting calendar.
