According to the commissioner, the festival will feature twelve teams drawn from across Nigeria, including host state Ogun, promising an exciting and highly competitive showcase of emerging basketball talents.

The three-day event is scheduled to hold from Friday, December 19 to Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the refurbished Alake Sports Center, Ijeja, Abeokuta, a facility recently upgraded to support high-level sporting activities.

Hon. Isiaka noted that the festival aligns with the state government’s vision of using sports as a tool for youth engagement, talent discovery, and social development, while also strengthening Ogun State’s reputation as a hub for sporting excellence.

He added that the event is expected to attract top government officials and stakeholders in sports development, including the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, among other dignitaries.

Calling on sports lovers across the state to be part of the experience, the commissioner assured that the festival would deliver high-quality basketball action and a vibrant community atmosphere.

“This festival promises to be an unforgettable experience, showcasing the talent and determination of our youth,” Hon. Isiaka said.

“Join us for a weekend filled with thrilling basketball action, community spirit, and celebration of our young athletes.”

The Youth Basketball Festival is expected to serve as a platform for talent identification, inspire young athletes, and further strengthen partnerships aimed at sustainable sports development in Ogun State.
