Ogu: We’re All Working Hard For Saturday’s Match

Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel midfielder, John Ugochukwu Ogu has downplayed the hunger for a starting shirt in the Super Eagles, as he says all the players are working hard for a common goal.

Although the former Academica de Coimbra of Portugal towering left-footed admitted he would love to start against South Africa on Saturday, he insists it is more about team work than individual interest.

Sports247.ng can also report that Ogu is happy with the blend of old and young players in the Eagles, which he believes has added extra depth to the squad and says it is an asset for their ambitions.

The lanky star, who has been in the Eagles’ mainframe since 2013, is yet to start in a competitive match for Nigeria, but stressed that he will keep working hard and hope for the right time to come his way.

Ogu said: ”I am here working hard, looking forward to the game and hopefully we will secure the three points.
”With the young guys we have in the team, everyone is working, trying to blend with the older ones.

“I feel that the future is bright for our football. The most important thing for us now is to go to South Africa and try to win the game.

Everyone is working hard and looking forward to this game and secure our qualification to the Nations Cup, that we’ve not been to for the past two editions.”
