Nwora Stays Upbeat Over D’Tigers’ Potentials

Nigeria’s men’s basketball national team, D’Tigers’ coach, Alex Nwora, is staying upbeat over his side’s potentials, despite suffering two defeats at the weekend.

Loses to Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal at the the last stage of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Abiuadjan meant Nwora’s team lost their unbeaten run, which dates back to October, but sports247.ng can report that the coach is still looking on the bright side of things.

After first slumping 76-42 against the hosts on Friday, D’Tigers crumbled 84-62 to Senegal at Palaise des Sports in Abidjan on Sunday, 24 hours after they initially bounced back to defeat Central African Republic 72-59.
Against Senegal, D’Tigers lost the first quarter 27-19, won the second 13-15 and could not turn the tide during the third quarter, which they lost 23-19, as the Lions led with ten points at 63-53.

Nwora’s side lost the fourth quarter 24-10, yet D’Tigers finished top of Group F after amassing ten wins with 22 points from 12 games.

Ikenna Iroegbu was D’Tigers’ top player against Senegal, with 28 points, six rebounds and six assists while Ike Diogu had ten points and seven rebounds.
