Nwora Plans Towards Future Glory For D’Tigers

Nigeria’s men’s basketball senior national team, D’Tigers’ coach, Alex Nwora is looking beyond this year’s FIBA World Cup in China, as he says he is building a squad that will bring future glory to the country.

Although he admitted that putting up a great impression at China 2019 is the priority for now, the former coach of Cape Verde’s national team stressed that plans also have to be made for years to come.
Nwora, though, enthused further during a radio programme monitored by sports247.ng in Lagos that the array of players he plans to line out in China are such that will be useful for Nigeria beyond the FIBA Mundial.
He acknowledged the need for experience on the courts, even as he builds for the future, hence his decision to invite some older players along with emergent young ones.
The soft-spoken coach added that he and his assistants will continue monitoring young Nigerian players in America’s National Basketball Association (NBA), South America and Europe in order to spot talents.
“We want to put up a good impression at the World Cup. That’s why we will try to invite the best Nigerian players, wherever they are.
“We are checking them in the NBA, we are checking in Europe, Asia and South America. We want to try out the best we can get.
“We have some experienced players that are already in the team, but we are also calling young players, because we are thinking of a bright future for D’Tigers,” Nwora submitted.
