Antetokounmpo Stays Out Of Bucks’ Latest Win

Milwaukee Bucks’ Nigerian-born in-form star, Giannis Antetokounmpo sat out his team’s latest match, but got a pleasant surprise that they still managed to beat Los Angeles Lakers in his absence.

Sports247.ng reports that Bucks won 115-101 with Antetokounmpo, who is on the verge of formally reverting to his original family name, Adetokunbo,  is nursing an injured ankle.
Antetokounmpo received treatment on his ankle during the team’s off day on Monday and Bucks coach, Mike Budenholzer said before the next game that ‘The Greek Freak’ was not fit enough to play.
Antetokounmpo, a front-runner for the league MVP award, poured in a career-high 52 points in a 130-125 loss to Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, but sprained his right ankle in that game after colliding with Joel Embiid on a drive to the basket late in the third quarter.
Though he remained in the game, continued soreness forced him to sit against LA Lakers, against who The Bucks made do without him, as they repeatedly thwarted rallies from the side that also missed LeBron James due to a sore groin.
Antetokounmpo, who was in uniform, donned a thick white headband with the NBA logo while on the bench, something he doesn’t do during game action. ”I don’t think that’s a good look for him,” Middleton said.
