NSF Delta 2022: Oyo State Sports Council Speaks On Ilaji Boss, Kayrom Lee, Adeleke Appointment

The Oyo State Sports Council has officially announced the appointments of Chairman, Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resorts, Engr Dotun Sanusi, Managing Director of Peculiar Consult and Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited, Engr Olanrewaju Adeleke and Chief Executive Officer of Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Centre, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde as the ‘Fathers and Mother of Sports’ for the Oyo state contingent heading to the 21st edition of National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022 holding between November 29 – December 12, 2022.

Chairman, Oyo State Sports Council, Honorable Gbenga Adewusi ‘Arole’ while announcing the appointment of the trio on Tuesday afternoon to athletes, officials and newsmen at the Sports Complex of Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba Ibadan said the appointment was credibly made having found them worthy to help motivate athletes to yet another edition of the National Sports Festival especially after emerging 6th on the final medals table at the last edition in Edo in 2021.

“Our decision to appoint Engineer Dotun Sanusi, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde and Engineer Olanrewaju Adeleke as the Fathers and Mother for Oyo State contingent to Delta 2022 is because of their notable impacts, passions and love for sports. They’ve all done very well in areas of sports development and provision of facilities in the state. We believe strongly that their presence will definitely motivate the athletes to win gold medals.”

“Government cannot do it alone, private companies, industries and individuals should come into sports in their respective capacities. If this is done, sky would be the beginning for our athletes and Nigeria will continue to rub shoulders with other countries in Africa and the World.”

Ambassador Romoke Ayinde, while addressing the athletes, advised them to be good ambassadors of the state by doing away with any form of enhancement substance that could tarnish their image and that of Oyo state.

“I want to advise you to be good ambassadors of Oyo state, the state finished 6th on the medals table at Edo 2021 and we can do better this time around. Oyo state is known as a pace setter’s state, so I advise you all to shun drugs or any enhancement content that can hinder your dreams and aspirations. Also, you must be focused, determined, committed and forget any worries that could affect your mindsets and preparations.

The General Manager, Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Gboyega Makinde expressed his optimism that with the morale boost and physical support, the athletes will make the state proud. He advised the athletes to give out all their energy to make Oyo state proud as Governor Seyi Makinde is always ready to rewards them.

In her response, an Oyo state athlete and Nigeria gold medalist at the weightlifting event of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022, Rofiat Afolashade Lawal (MON), on behalf of other athletes, thanked Ambassador Romoke Ayinde for her moral support and provision of souvenirs to Team Oyo. Lawal promised a better outing in Delta.

“We are going to Delta with determination to win gold medals and surpass our performance at the last edition. With hard work, dedication and grace of God, we shall come back with better position on the medals table. With the spirits in camp right now, we will surely do better because we are one family, bound by one love, the chemistry to win as a team and as individuals is high.” she concluded.
